Competitive tendering process for interpreter service for persons with disabilities is in the final stages – Changes to interpreters possible from the beginning of 2025

Published 30/10/2024

The availability of some of the interpreters who provide interpreter services for persons with disabilities may change on 1 January 2025. New interpreters may also become involved in the services. These changes may happen because Kela has sourced the interpreter services through competitive tendering. A competitive tendering process was carried out because the current agreements between Kela and the service providers will end at the end of 2024.

Will I have to do anything?

You will not have to do anything. The Centre for Interpreting Services for the Disabled will contact you if:

  • an interpreter on your interpreter list is no longer available as of 1 January 2025
  • we want to suggest new interpreters for your interpreter list.

You can also suggest changes to your interpreter list yourself, or you can create an interpreter list if you do not already have one. Check the service providers in your area and suggest an interpreter who is in or near your municipality of residence. We will publish the information about the service providers as soon as the tendering process has been completed in all areas. Read more about updating your interpreter list at kela.fi.

How can I use the services in the future?

You can use the services and book an interpreter as usual. If you have any questions, please contact the Centre for Interpreting Services for the Disabled.
