Starting in the night to Friday, 9 December 2022, Kela’s online services have been hit by DoS attacks, forcing some services temporarily offline over the course of Friday.

Broad in scope, the attacks have targeted Kela’s websites and online services, including the Kanta services. The security of customer data has not been impacted.

“DoS attacks are quite common these days, and Kela has taken precautions for the event that they would sooner or later  target our services”, says Jukka Melanen, Kela’s IT Director. “Our processes and preparations are robust and the situation is under control,” he adds.

Kela is taking corrective measures as a result of the attacks. Further interruptions in service are possible.

Kela regrets any inconvenience caused to customers.
