Front-veterans’ supplements
Front-veterans' supplement is paid to persons who have been awarded one of several service badges or a certificate of having participated in mine clearance operations in 1945-1952.
The badges can no longer be applied for.
How much is the front-veterans’ supplement?
Income and property does not affect the amount of the front-veterans' supplement. It is free from tax.
Payment date
If banks are closed on the scheduled payment date, the payments are made on the nearest preceding banking day.
Additional front-veterans' supplement
Pensioners who are living in Finland and paid national pension and front-veteran’s supplement may be eligible for an additional front-veteran’s supplement. It is not payable to persons who have participated in mine clearance operations.
How much is the additional front-veterans’ supplement?
The additional front-veteran's supplement is equal to 25-45 percent of the amount by which the recipient's national pension exceeds EUR 106.88 per month.
The highest possible additional front-veterans' supplement is paid to pension recipients who do not receive pensions that reduce the amount of the supplement, such as pensions from abroad.
The maximum amount of the additional front-veteran's supplement is
- for persons living alone EUR 300.97 per month
- for persons living together with another person EUR 263.55 per month
The additional front-veterans' supplement is free from tax.
If you are paid additional front-veteran's supplement or care allowance at the middle or highest rate, Kela will also pay you a disability supplement.

Front-veterans’ supplement card
Veterans and persons having participated in post-war mine clearance can use the front-veterans’ supplement card to prove their entitlement to various discounts and services.
All recipients of front-veterans’ supplements are entitled to a front-veterans’ supplement card. When using the card, prove your identity with a photo ID card.
If you misplace your front-veterans’ supplement card, you can order a new one from Kela. You will receive the new card within a few weeks. Kela will send you a paper certificate that you can use in the interim.
The card is blue and white in colour. The owner’s name is shown on the front while the reverse contains instructions in Finnish and Swedish.
