Guidance in how to use the interpreting services for the disabled
When you have been granted the right to use interpreter services, you can get guidance in how to use the services.
The guidance covers such topics as:
- What is interpreter service?
- What are the role and responsibilities of the interpreter?
- How to book an interpreter
- How many hours of interpretation can you use?
- What information does Kela need about customers?
The guidance is intended for new customers. However, it is available even if you have already used the service.
The guidance is voluntary, and it counts against the number of hours of interpretation granted to you.
How the guidance works
All new customers can request guidance in how to use the service. The decision notice in which they are granted the right to use interpreter services includes instructions on how to request the guidance.
The guidance is requested from the Centre for Interpreting Services for the Disabled. A suitable interpreter is found to join you for the guidance. You can also be accompanied by a close relative, your contact person, your assistant or your speech therapist.
If there is not enough time to go through everything, the Centre can arrange a new guidance session. You can keep the instruction material.
If you have used interpreter services before but would like additional guidance, contact the Centre for Interpreting Services for the Disabled.
Using interpreter services after the guidance
After the guidance we will monitor your use of the interpreter service and whether the introduction was successful.
If you have not used the service we will contact you and provide additional guidance should you want it.
