Course of study begun before 1 August 2011
Your maximum period of eligibility depends on the target time to degree as follows:
- 60 credits or one academic year of study makes you eligible for 9 months of financial aid.
- Any period of study beyond a full academic year which lasts half of an academic year and provides 30 credits makes you eligible for 5 months of financial aid.
- Your maximum period of eligibility is the calculated period of financial aid plus another 10 months of aid.

If you began your course of study in academic year 2004-2005 or earlier, you can usually get financial aid for 55 months. In some master's programmes, the maximum period of eligibility is 60 or 65 months, and in some bachelor's programmes, 33 or 36 months.
