Expansion to the substitution of biologic medicines will be phased in between 2024 and 2026.

Reference price groups for biologic medicines to be expanded on 1 April 2024

The change is part of an EU reform to improve the exchange of health data and the quality of care in Europe. The use of patient data outside Finland requires that the patient has given their consent to do so in MyKanta.

Treatment of Finnish patients in Estonia will become easier – Estonian healthcare will soon be able to utilise Finnish patient data

Going forward, Kela’s partner organisations can sign documents such as different contracts with Kela electronically. This is made possible by Kela’s e-signature service from 12 February 2024 onwards.

The price notifications of products that are included in generic substitution and the reference price system procedure must be reported to Kela no later than 21 days before the first day of each quarter.

Lääkevaihdon ja viitehintajärjestelmän ilmoitusmenettelyyn kuuluvien lääkevalmisteiden hinnat on ilmoitettava Kelalle viimeistään 21 päivää ennen kunkin vuosineljänneksen ensimmäistä päivää.

Läkemedelspriserna som omfattas av anmälningsförfarandet enligt systemet med läkemedelsutbyte och referensprissystemet ska anmälas till FPA senast 21 dagar före den första dagen i varje kvartal.

The OmaKela e-service may lag and users may experience slower than normal performance between 14.00 and 17.00 on 20–21 February and again on 24–25 February. Kela is expecting a temporary increase in traffic to the e-service because Kela is about to send a letter to students in higher education prompting them to pay their student healthcare fee.  We apologise for any inconvenience.

<p>When you visit a service point, bring proof of identity, such as your passport or driver’s licence. If you are acting on behalf of another person, you need a specific power of attorney from that person and proof of your identity.</p><p>If you bring your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, you can manage your Kela-related affairs on a self-service computer at the service point.</p><p>You are permitted to bring a guide dog, an assistance dog or a government working dog to a service point.</p>
